Acyntha
Acyntha

$375

There are so many positive thoughts living within this little sculpture of marble from Carrera, Italy.

The stone was gifted to me from a dear friend.

This stone was more of a challenge to my limited hand tool than a different piece of Carrera marble I worked with a couple of years ago.

I thought of my mother, who was so very patient.  She was so very proud of her Italian ancestry.

This sculpture is named Acyntha.  It was my mothers middle name.   As a child, I had a difficult time pronouncing this name.

The stone is about 5 3/4 inches tall.

My challenge was to allow the cleavage points to remain and only sculpt where cuts had been made when this piece was separated from a larger stone.

It is pin and sleeve mounted on a piece of wood which I believe is walnut.

This little sculpture will be shown during the 2021 Art's Alive show in La Conner, WA.
