Wild Thing
Wild Thing

So, I was playing with some of the strands of the New Zealand Hair Sedge (orange sedge) growing in our yard and was impressed with the strength of the strands and how it yielded to my tying knots.

I was wondering if I could incorporate a few of the strands in one of my little sculptures.  This little hand tooled sculpture is of alabaster, pin and sleeve mounted on a piece of rosewood.  The strands are held in place with bee’s wax which means they could easily be removed or replaced.

The song “Wild Thing” by Chip Taylor comes to mind:

“Wild thing,

you make my heart sing.

You make everything groovy.

Wild thing,

I think you move me.”
