Music of the Stone
Music of the Stone

I love attending the springtime stone sculpting workshop at the Matzke Fine Art and Sculpture Park on Camano Island, WA.

It doesn’t take long for a gentle music to form.  It’s the sound of instruments tapping and sliding on the stone surfaces which become expressions of visions that evolve with refinement as the symphony continues.

This little alabaster sculpture has part of the stone polished and part still raw.  It is about 5 inches tall, using a stainless steel pin and bronze sleeve on a piece, of wonderful wood with part of the bark still intact.

This little sculpture was sold at the Matzke Fine Art and Sculpture Park on Camano Island, WA.  It is now in a home in LaConnor, WA.
